About Us

Why Our Labs

North America Laboratories (NAL) was established with a focus on protecting the consumer by providing the most advanced product analysis methods available today. We provide cost effective testing with an emphasis on timely turnaround that will satisfy any States regulation requirements. NAL provides nationwide standard testing and is establishing facility locations in states where the need for local services are required (for products that cannot currently be transported across state lines).

How We Help

You need it quick, NAL can help. Large volume, small volume, no problem. We understand the unique hurdles faced by businesses today and NAL customer service is ready to help, call us.

Experience the Difference

NAL is partnering with the most advanced science technologies and scientists available to make sure you know your product. With so many different regulatory concerns nationwide, you cant afford to have last minute problems due to an insufficient test. We know your business and are here to help, let a NAL scientist know what issues you've had and let us fix them.

Our Services

Analytical Testing

Our customers benefit tremendously from testing performed at independent laboratories. Our services determines potencies, reduces the risk of contamination and improves product quality. Routine testing services include potency, screening/determination of terpenes, aflatoxins, heavy metals, molds, bacteria, pesticides, herbicides and residual solvents.

Potency Testing

Product potency testing is critical in Federal Regulations. Most labs quantitate levels of at least three major targets and their different forms (carboxylated vs decarboxylated). Some labs employ gas chromatography (GC), in which the sample is vaporized under heat. Both GC-FID and GC-MS are commonplace.

NAL labs use HPLC to determine the amount of cannabinoids present. Because HPLC does not require heating, testing by this method provides a more accurate determination of the actual amounts of carboxylated or decarboxylated forms present in the sample. Potency testing accompanied with proper product labeling is needed to ensure that customers know exactly how much of the cannabinoids they are consuming.

Typical potency ranges from 5 to 25% in plant materials and edibles, but can run much higher for concentrated oils. There are no established standard methods for chopping samples, homogenizing them and performing extractions.

Pesticides, Herbicides and Residual Solvent Screening

The analytical detection of pesticides is critical under ever the evolving state regulations. Pesticides are used in commercial operations to kill mites that thrive on plants. Female mites lay over 2,000,000 eggs per day at 90o Fahrenheit. Also, they are mutating throughout the cannabis industry with resistance to some pesticides. Thrips (tiny, slender insects with fringed wings), aphids, and root gnats are common indoor pests. Spider mites, caterpillars, grasshoppers threaten greenhouse grows. Halyomorpha halys, also known as the brown marmorated stink bug, is a voracious eater.

An enormous number of pesticides are available in the commercial marketplace, and no lab can test for all of them. The number of pesticides required for testing varies from state to state, ranging from zero to proposed rules by California for 66 pesticides. Organizations such as AOAC International are evaluating methods with more pesticides. NAL will be using Shimadzu’s high-sensitivity LCMS-8050 triple quadruple liquid chromatograph mass spectrometer to analyze 211 pesticides in dry products in less than 12 minutes. As regulations continue to change, we can be sure NAL platforms will have the capabilities to meet these regulatory requirements
